What function does corporation repute drama within organisational public presentation and societal duty? Develop a list of factors or features that different stakeholders may utilize in measuring corporate repute. Are these factors consistent across stakeholders? Why or why non? Corporate repute plays a really built-in portion within organisational public presentation and societal duty. Either one important incident or several incidents can act upon the perceptual experience of a companyââ¬â¢s image and repute held by its stakeholders and clients. This may hold a permanent consequence for many. many old ages. Coca-Colaââ¬â¢s ( Coke ) repute has been tarnished because of the legion allegations of unethical behaviour and deficiency of societal duty chiefly in the international market. In 2000. Coke failed to put in Fortuneââ¬â¢s top 10 ââ¬Å"Americaââ¬â¢s Most Admired Companiesâ⬠. The undermentioned twelvemonth it vanished from the ââ¬Å"100 Best Corporate Citizensâ⬠as honored by Business Ethics magazine ( p. 409 ) . Along with losing its good standing in the corporate universe. Coke has besides experienced some instability in its fiscal public presentation. While in the early portion of 2000 Coke maintained a sound balance sheet ( p. 416 ) . its growing proved to be a small more dead by 2009 with portions fluctuating between $ 59 and $ 37 per portion ( p. 410 ) . This slow growing was speculated as a consequence of the assorted allegations of unethical behaviour and illegal patterns. The increased turnover in direction and the going of cardinal investors ( p. 410 ) may besides hold contributed to the job. Until the company rebuilds its repute. Coke may go on to see dead growing. Assorted factors are involved when mensurating corporate repute. These factors are based on an individualââ¬â¢s degree of engagement. A customerââ¬â¢s primary concerns may include merchandise safety and quality. degree of client service. and the selling schemes used to actuate them to purchase. Customers may no longer esteem a company known to systematically maltreat its employees. fails to follow up on client service issues. or is involvedwith unethical selling patterns. A companyââ¬â¢s intervention of its employees is observed at all degrees including degree of preparation. safety in the work topographic point. age favoritism. racial favoritism. sex favoritism. every bit good as rewards and benefits that are offered. Investors are chiefly concerned with a companyââ¬â¢s repute. fiscal position. degree of profitableness. every bit good as its degree of societal duty and concern moralss. Whether the investor agrees or disagrees with the companyââ¬â¢s concern patterns refering employees. clients. and stakeholders. it will impact the investorââ¬â¢s determination to ab initio put or stay invested in a company. 2 ) Assume you have merely become CEO at Coca Cola. Sketch the strategic stairss you would take to rectify the concerns emanating from the companyââ¬â¢s board of managers. consumers. employees. and concern spouses ; authoritiess ; and the media. What elements of societal duty would you pull from in reacting to these stakeholder issues? The first measure would be to set up an ethics commission in each subdivision location. Based on the information given. it is ill-defined if the allegations of misconduct resulted from mundane concern patterns or if certain employees chose to ignore the companyââ¬â¢s mission statement. Following. finishing a societal and moralss audit to develop a precedence list of actions to be action. The 3rd measure would be to end and prosecute any employee who cognizing violated Cokeââ¬â¢s policies and end anyone who refuses or fails to honour company policies traveling frontward. Another measure includes uninterrupted developing on moralss and cultural consciousness preparation. This instruction will greatly better Cokeââ¬â¢s place with the international market. And eventually. making a commission devoted to societal duty and find of new and advanced ways for Coke to come on in this country and turn out to the critics its degree of committedness towards societal duty. 3 ) What do you believe of Coca-Colaââ¬â¢s environmental enterprises? Are they merely window dressing. or does the company seem to be sincere in its attempts? As presented in this instance survey. it is apparent that Coke has made great paces in its attempts towards societal duty both internally and externally. While the company critics believe it has non done sufficiency and that the attempts made are a agencies of concealing the corruptness ( p. 416 ) . I partly agree with the critics. I am troubled with the deficiency of taking duty for any incorrect making. This leads me to believe Coke is concerned with covering up the corruptness alternatively of taking ownership of the errors made. Equally far as has Coke done plenty. I steadfastly believe the company is on the right path. The company has been accused of consuming and polluting the groundwater in India. In response. 320 rainwater-harvesting installations were built to regenerate and return all groundwater ( p. 414 ) . Recycling and climatic alteration are other enterprises Coca-Cola has embraced. The PlantBottle developed by Coca-Cola truly has a positive impact on the environment. Not merely is it partly made from plant-based stuff. it is to the full reclaimable and reduces the usage of unrenewable resources and C emanations ( p. 415 ) . However. I feel the companyââ¬â¢s resources can be better spent other ways to cut down emanations. unrenewable resources. energy ingestion. etc. alternatively of establishing a vesture line made from recycled plastic bottles that finally will stop up in the landfills. Based on the information provided in the instance survey. I believe Coca-Cola is sincere in its attempt to broaden its societal duty. I besides feel that some of its determinations are non in the companyââ¬â¢s or the environmentââ¬â¢s best involvement. 4 ) . In what other ways does this instance relate to the constructs that we have learned in the chapters so far? The instance survey reveals allegations of corruptness. unethical behaviour. and deficiency of societal duty that have plagued Coca-Cola for the past two decennaries. This instance survey besides reveals some of the unethical selling tactics used by the company. The most unethical tactics were its deceptive advertisement that sodium carbonate was healthy for kids and that its Vitamin Water was besides healthy when in fact it contained high degrees of sugar ( p. 413 ) . The instance survey besides discusses happenings of accounting fraud by channel stuffing which resulted in increased grosss and basically inflated its fiscal statement net incomes ( p. 411 ) . The instance survey exposes misdemeanors of antimonopoly Torahs with the most noteworthy being Coca-Cola offering discounts and vouchers to cut down shelf infinite available to the competition ( p. 410 ) . Finally. th e instance survey uncovers several incidents of unethical employment patterns including unequal wage and racial favoritism.

The Meaning of the Pseudonym Mark Twain
The Meaning of the Pseudonym Mark Twain Samuel Clemens used several pseudonymsà during his long writing career. The first was simplyà ââ¬Å"Josh,â⬠and the second was ââ¬Å"Thomas Jefferson Snodgrass.â⬠But, the author wrote his best-known works, including such American classics as The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, under the pen name Mark Twain. Both books center on the adventures of two boys, the namesakes for the novels, on the Mississippià River. Not surprisingly, Clemens adopted his pen name from his experiences piloting steamboats up and down the Mississippi. Navigational Term Twain literally means two. As a riverboat pilot, Clemens would have heard the term, Mark Twain, which means two fathoms, on a regular basis. According to the UC Berkeley Library, Clemens first used this pseudonymà in 1863, when he was working as a newspaper reporter in Nevada, long after his riverboat days. Clemens became a riverboat cub, or trainee, in 1857. Two years later, he earned his full pilots license and began piloting theà steamboatà Alonzo Childà upriver from New Orleans in January 1861.à His piloting career was cut short when riverboat traffic ceased at the start of the Civil War that same year. Mark Twain meansà the second mark on a line that measured depth, signifying two fathoms, or 12 feet, which was a safe depth for riverboats. The method of dropping a line to determine the waters depth was a way to read the river and avoid submerged rocks and reefs that couldà tear the life out of the strongest vessel that ever floated, as Clemens wrote in his 1863 novel, Life on the Mississippi.à Why Twain Adopted the Name Clemens, himself, explained in Life on the Mississippi why he chose that particular moniker for his most famous novels. In this quote, he was referring toà Horace E. Bixby, the grizzled pilot who taught Clemens to navigate the river during his two-year training phase: The old gentleman was not of literary turn or capacity, but he used to jot down brief paragraphs of plain practical information about the river, and sign them MARK TWAIN, and give them to the New Orleans Picayune. They related to the stage and condition of the river, and were accurate and valuable; and thus far, they contained no poison. Twain lived far from the Mississippi (in Connecticut) when The Adventures of Tom Sawyer was published in 1876. But, that novel, as well as The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, published in 1884 in the United Kingdom and in 1885 in the United States, were so infused with images of the Mississipi River that it seems fitting that Clemens would use a pen name that so closely tied him to the river. As he navigated the rocky path of his literary career (he was beset with financial problems through much of his life), its fitting that he would choose a moniker that defined the very method riverboat captains used to safely navigate the sometimes treacherous waters of the mighty Mississippi.

Case Study_Secondary Ticket Market Study Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words
Study_Secondary Ticket Market - Case Study Example Whilst the teams earn extra revenue from this practice, the main problem is that tickets that are acquired through bad ways are set to tarnish their image. The success in sport is about creating good reputation so as to be in a position to create mutual understanding with the fans. The other problem is that the tickets sold at secondary markets are overpriced and this is detrimental to the teams involved. This is just as good as parallel market where in some instances the tickets are sold for a premium price while their actual value is far below that. This negatively impacts on the fans though the team owners benefit from this practice because they would be working hand in glove with the ââ¬Å"scalpers.â⬠In other words, some people end up reaping from where they did not sow and this is not good practice in as far as sport and gaming are concerned. The image of the team will be tarnished at the end of day and this is the reason why a team should make sure that opportunists do n ot short change the supporters. In the long run, it can be seen that the team will end up losing credibility as a result of the activities of the secondary ticket sellers who may be bent on fulfilling their selfish interests. When people lose trust in the team, it may not be able to generate more revenue since people may end up shunning it. It is problematic for a team to lose the supporters through unethical conduct by the secondary sellers of the tickets. This task should be performed by the agents employed by the team. Analysis and evaluation of the alternatives In the first place, the problem exists because there are some holders of seasonal tickets who feel that they cannot attend all games. As such they decide to sell these tickets to the secondary markets which will later resell them to the people who may be interested in buying them. Whilst this is not a very bad idea since it entails that the team will generate more revenue from this practice, it can be noted that there are certain problems associated with the whole arrangement. In order to address the loopholes identified above, it is imperative for the respective teams to put control measures that are meant to ensure that all unwanted tickets are sold through their offices. Instead of engaging secondary sellers to perform this particular function, the respective teams should create channels that are meant to ensure that unwanted tickets are sold through their office. However, the only disadvantage of this alternative is that the team may not be able to manage all centers that will be responsible for this exercise across the whole country. The other alternative is that the team involved should harness new information and communication technology such that the fans who want to resell their tickets can do it through its official website. If the team harnesses new information and technology, there are likely chances that the loopholes in the secondary ticketing system are eliminated. It also becomes eas y to communicate with the fans intending to sell their tickets such that there is transparency in all the transactions that may ensue. The major advantage of this method is that the internet is secure and transparency is likely to be enhanced since all transactions can be accounted for. All the ticket holders who feel that they no longer need to go to a particular game should approach the registered agents instead of going to secondary ticket holders

Market realities and the maximalization of consumer good Essay
Market realities and the maximalization of consumer good - Essay Example For purposes of definition,a monopolistic competition will be defined as a type of competition that is defined by the fact that only one business or individual can provide the needs of the larger economyConversely, oligopolistic competition will be one in which only a few very large companies offer the given good or service to the market. Likewise, due to the fact that so few players exist within the oligarchic model of competition, it is easy and often common for them to cooperate in order to stifle any entrants to the market. As a function of seeking o understand each of these models to a greater degree, the forthcoming analysis will seek to provide the levels of differences that exist between the two as well as showing some figures that illustrate the ways in which the market behaves under these different models of competition. Lastly, a value judgment will be made with respect to which of these is the best model of competition to maximize consumer good within the economy. Althoug h it is useful to seek to provide a contrast between the two so that the reader and/or researcher can best judge how these two forms of competition act within the given economic system, there are a level of similarities between the two that cannot be ignored. In both of these models, the consumer is at a price disadvantage due to the fact that the price maker(s) is holding almost all of the power and has the ability to set the price according to non-market regulated means. (Lu, 2011). Likewise, also from the consumerââ¬â¢s perspective, the level of selection of goods or services between both models is similarly constrained. Due to the fact that one or a handful of firms are holding the means of production and/or distribution firmly within their grasp, the availability of substitutes is greatly diminished (Marini & Zevi, 2011). Conversely, the differences that exist between the two market realities also help to differentiate the two models. The first of these revolves around the f act that a monopoly allows for much lower level of consumer choice than does the oligarchic system. Although both systems necessarily constrain the choice to the consumer, it is impossible to consider a situation in a monopolistic model in which a price war would take place (ZHELOBODKO et al, 2012). Conversely, although rare, price wars can and do take place within the oligarchic model due to the fact that a particular firm or group of firms may seek to leverage an advantage and further reduce the competition by driving one of the participants out. Figure 1 and 2 below seek to point out the key means by which monopolistic and oligarchic competition affects the supply and demand curves of the traditional representation of the economy. Due to the ways in which these are warped from the standard representations, the reader can gain a degree of inference with respect to how these effects will be passed along to the end consumer within the markets. Figure 1.0 Oligarchic Competition Figur e 2.0 Monopolistic Competition Consequently, the reader and/or researcher can understand that with regards to the maximizing the good of the consumer, the oligarchic model is most appropriate due to the fact that although it provides the consumer with only a few options between firms or between products, it necessarily exhibits a greater level of offerings than does that of monopolistic competition. Moreover, due to the fact that the firms within an oligarchic system compete, at least to a small degree, some utility is able to maximized on behalf of the consumer (Essen & Hankins, 2013). This is a function of the fact that the monopolistic system is the price maker and the consumer is the price taker. Although one can argue that in the oligarchic system the same is true, the fact of the matter is that it is reduced due to the reality of the small level of continuing and ongoing competition that is present. Though few realistic examples exist within the world with regards

Based on statistics, road accidents mostly occur during festive days such as Hari Raya, Chinese New Year, Deepavali and so on. They are travelling a long distance for purpose to go back their hometown to celebrate with their relatives. There are a few reasons why accidents happen in Malaysia. Firstly, road accidents happen because of speeding. For example, many teenagers in Malaysia like to drive with a sense of speed. They drive recklessly and love to ignore the speed limit. Even though our government has put up signboards on roads and highways, they seem to ignore these signs. These actions not only endanger their lives but it also endangers the lives of other road users. Secondly, accidents happen when the drivers are in a drunken condition. After getting drunk, they do not realize that they are actually driving very fast because they are influenced by alcohol. They lose the ability to focus and drive properly when drunk. So, they would get in trouble and get involved in an accident. It is a very dangerous action and is one of the top causes of accidents in Malaysia. Thirdly, Malaysia has a lot of road users that are not responsible. They do not care about the rules that are provided; they just ignore them for the sake of being comfortable. They are careless and make unnecessary mistakes such as falling asleep at the wheel, unsafe overtaking, not stop at the red traffic light and other common disregards of road rules. Distractions are also linked to driver error because accidents can occur when the driver is distracted, which includes texting while driving. As a conclusion, there are a lot of causes of road accidents but the main cause of road accidents occur because of the driverââ¬â¢s behaviour. As a driver, we need to take responsibility for what we have done. Refrain from doing actions that might cause accidents to occur or injure other person; on phone while driving, drunk driving and so on. These actions are really dangerous if we do it when driving because we cannot control the car well. Remember that our family members are always worried about us and care about us. There are no people who are wishing to get involved in a road accident. It is really a tragedy; it makes a lot of people lose their family members. Besides that, all Malaysians should be cooperating to reduce the number of road accidents. Whenever you think that this isnââ¬â¢t achievable, remember our slogan ââ¬Å"Malaysia Bolehâ⬠.
